Fires raged out of control across Oklahoma today, the air here in Owasso is thick with the smell of smoke and we are miles away from the actual fire. Jeff shot these photos near Kellyville, OK. He shot HD footage of this intense/widespread fire that destroyed 1 home, outbuildings and equipment. I watched the video this evening and was amazed how the fire would swirl up 20-30 feet or so creating a vortex of fire. Today I received a phone call from a friend asking me if I could see the fires from where I lived. I asked her "What Fires?!?!" And she said "its all over the news that fires are near Owasso". I quickly hung up the phone, ran upstairs to go out on our balcony for a birds-eye-view and I was stunned. The fires were a mere 1.5 to 2 miles away from our home. I grabbed the camera and took the first photo of the series from our balcony, the rest were shot after driving to the fires. Then later in the day after the fires near our home were out, someone North and West of Collinsville, OK threw a cigarette out the window and started another grass fire. The last two slide presentations are of that particular fire.
